Much of Eddie’s canon is my own personal canon, spliced with bits from S4 canon. I have my own personal backstory for Eddie, which you can find further down in this document on BIOGRAPHY.II. MUTUALS. Once I have noticed you following me, which isn’t always right away, and if I don’t follow back in 48 hours. I’m probably not going to. This is nothing personal, usually. A family well known throughout Hawkin’s for a history of criminal activity. Eddie was born to Al Munson (26) and his shotgun bride Annie O’Connor (20) (Yes, Eddie has some Irish blood). Life from the beginning wasn’t great.AL WAS A DRUNK & was always in and out of jail. When he wasn’t in jail, Al would use his son to help him commit crimes such as stealing cars etc. At first, Eddie was just the look out. But as the years went on, Al taught him all his criminal skills, expecting him to participate in ‘the family business.’ And Eddie did for a while because he wanted his father’s affection, which was almost non-existent, and because Al beat Eddie when he didn’t cooperate. Eddie’s relationship with his mother, Annie, wasn’t much better.ANNIE WAS A DEPRESSED PERSON. She was young and pretty but had squandered herself away into a marriage with a man she didn’t love. She and Al only married because Annie was pregnant, and she had no other family to speak of. Annie would take a lot of antidepressants to deal with her unpleasant life.ANNIE DESPISED THAT Al took Eddie thieving and conning with him, but she had little control over what Al did, and was often high, disassociating daily from her life as much as possible. She loved Eddie, but she wasn’t mentally fit enough to be a real mother to him, and he usually went neglected in all aspects of his younger life.WHEN EDDIE WAS 9 ANNIE WAS KILLED IN A CAR ACCIDENT while under the influence of pills and alcohol. Eddie often wondered for years after if Annie meant to kill herself; he concluded that she did. For the next few years, Eddie fell further and further into the ‘family business.’ He hated it for the most part, though he enjoyed the thrill. But Al’s word was law, and Eddie rarely disobeyed him for fear of further beatings.IT WASN’T UNTIL EDDIE WAS 12 THAT Al WAS FINALLY ARRESTED for a long string of thefts and cons he’d been pulling over the years. Laurence got twenty years, and no one else in the Munson family wanted to take Eddie in because he was just another mouth to feed. Eddie was never loved by his family, and he knew that at age 12, traumatising him deeply for many years afterwards. Only Wayne Munson, Al’s older brother, volunteered. Eddie had only met Wayne a few times because he and Laurence didn’t get along. Wayne was mostly straight-edge and had gotten out of the vicious Munson family cycle.He wasn’t rich by any means, but he took Eddie in and treated him like his own son. Eddie hasn’t seen or heard from Al much since the day of his arrest. The transition was hard on Eddie despite Wayne’s support. Around 14-15, he started taking drugs and drinking and smoking as a way of coping with his past and present. Ironic, really, given that he didn’t want to be anything like his family but fell into the same traps anyway. Eddie already had a love of rock music before moving into Wayne’s and had been playing the guitar for a few years prior. He formed a heavy metal band with his best friend Gareth called CORRODED COFFIN, and he sold himself to the music. It helped him deal in some ways, and definitely helped him vent. The same thing with D&D. Eddie’s love of fantasy novels turned into D&D during this time too, and Eddie The Freak Munson was born. Though love for his hobbies redirected all attention from his education, hence why he hasn’t graduated. He simply does not care about academics….except for literature.TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD, EDDIE MUNSON is a guy who plays the devil’s music and apparently performed satanic rituals. Everyone already believed he was a bad guy, evil, a demon itself. So, why not play the part? Better than letting them see the sheep beneath the wolves' clothing…Munson by name, Munson by nature, right?
